This firm fixed price contract was performed for United States Fire Insurance Company, the Bonding Company for a defaulted contractor. When a contractor defaults on a contract, the bonding company, through the issuance of payment and performance bonds, must complete the project in its entirety at no additional cost to the Government. Eastern Construction & Electric was selected by the bonding company to be the completing contractor for the work. A complete analysis was required to determine what was previously completed on the project and what was still incomplete. This project was performed for the US Air Force and was located in Family Housing on McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey.
This project required ECE to relocate the overhead distribution system to an underground system. The work involved removal of existing poles and street lights, new street lighting, underground duct banks, primary and secondary wiring, testing and certifications of existing items, transformers, excavation, asphalt, landscaping and final connections to the housing units.
Construction included installation of a 35KV shelter with vacuum circuit breakers that feed the double ended 7500/9375 KVA/OA/FA transformers to a secondary shelter, installation of 3000 LF concrete encased duct banks, electrical manholes, electrical vault, pulling and termination of conductors. Coordination with Base electrical shops, Jersey Central Power & Light was required prior to final connection to their transmission power lines.
